David L. Schumacher, 66, of Tripoli, died Friday, November 3, 2017, at his home.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, November 7, 2017, at Faith United Church of Christ in Tripoli with Rev. Craig Henderson officiating. Interment will follow in the Church Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Monday, November 6th at Rettig Funeral Home in Tripoli, and for one hour preceding services at the Church on Tuesday. Memorials may be made to the family for later designation.
David Lee, son of Orville and Bernice (Biermann) Schumacher was born April 13, 1951, at Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo. He was baptized May 27, 1951, at St. Peter’s Evangelical and Reformed Church, now known as Faith United Church of Christ in Tripoli, and was later confirmed there. David received his education in the Tripoli Schools graduating from Tripoli High School in 1969. Following high school, he began working at Beatrice Foods which would later become ConAgra, and remained there for many years until the company closed. David then worked for AMPI in Arlington for a few years, until his health no longer permitted. During his working career, he was a resident of Fredericksburg, but due to health concerns he moved back to Tripoli in 2009. He was a lifetime member of Faith United Church of Christ in Tripoli. David enjoyed fishing, the Chicago Cubs, and word search puzzles.
David is survived by his siblings, Linda Schumacher, Debra (Donald) Johnson both of Tripoli, Dennis (Lanell) Schumacher, Dale (Christy) Schumacher, and Brenda (Curtis) Gitch all of Fredericksburg; nine nieces and nephews, Michael (Renae) Johnson, Patrick (April) Schumacher, Samantha Johnson, Sondra (Joe) Morrison, Melissa Schumacher, Brittany (Shane) Wibel, Karen (Jacob) Werner, Caleb Schumacher, and Halie Gitch, twelve great-nieces and nephews, Chancellor and Remington Johnson, Charlotte Johnson, Teagan, Avery, and Ellianna Werner, Rhiannon and Korbin Stough, Mason Cordes, Jordana Schumacher, Kylie Morrison, and Blythe Wibel; and one aunt, Edna Drewis of Osage.
He was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents, father, Orville who died in 1985, and mother, Bernice who died in 2017; one sister, Mary who died in infancy; three brothers, Larry who died in infancy, Brian in 1984, and Allen in 2004.
